The Great Commission
God’s Word says in Matthew 28:16-20, “Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Crossroads’ Commitment
Crossroads is committed to seeing new churches planted among the nations of the world. Our international outreach stands alongside Crossroads’ commitment to serve in the local community and build the local church to see people come to know God. We encourage all our people to participate in regular local outreach as well as prayerfully considering becoming a part of one of our annual international mission teams.
Edinburgh
- We seek to reach all generations, nationalities and backgrounds in the city to be a home away from home.
We go out once a month at the Main Library to reach students and share the Gospel. Most times we offer free hot drinks as Crossroads Cafe, serving students and seeking Jesus in each interaction. Other times we bring a whiteboard with us, with an engaging question, like “Do you have hope?”, hoping to start faith centred conversations.
We have a Life Group for students and young professionals on a Thursday nights, where we study the Bible, worship and pray. We also host home groups once a month for the whole church to enjoy the gift of fellowship.
- We partner annually with other churches to participate in outreach involving worship and evangelism at the Meadows.
Overseas
As a church, we have an outward focus to reach the nations and have felt God leading us to specific people groups.
Ongoing Missions
Crossroads has consistently sent out short-term mission trips to Southeast Asia through the years, 11 teams in total. The work has involved summer schemes for young people, financial support, sharing faith in Christ and working alongside local believers.
- We partner with Youth Initiatives in Northern Ireland, sending 5 teams since 2020, to support a cross community faith based youth work. This involved helping with their residential weekend away, leading workshops, and sharing testimonies.
Prior Missions
- Crossroads participated in relief efforts for Syrian refugees at the Serbian/Croatian border in 2015/16.
- In Cambodia we visited a Christian charity set up to fight sex-trafficking. While there, we met with pastors and missionaries, with the vision to partner with them in the future.
- Crossroads teams have also served in a children’s home in India and in a low income area of Capetown, South Africa.
As a leadership, team we continue to pray for the nations and the Lord’s guidance on how and where we should be involved. None of this is possible without His leading and direction.
